How To Choose The Right Seating For Your Bar Or Counter
If you have a bar, kitchen work counter, or breakfast counter, finding the right stools can go a long way to finishing the look of the room. There are many different options available, and you can easily find a style that will work with the rest of your furnishings. Chosen correctly, stools can be both beautiful and practical.
Wood bar stools modeled in the traditional manner are typically heavy and finished in a dark stain, such as walnut or cherry. These are sometimes called pub stools. However, you can also find wooden models in numerous other styles, such as Mission, Early American, or Shaker. Finishes can also be light, with many models stained in pine, ash, or oak. Traditional designs usually have backs, and some also have arms. Both swivel and fixed styles are also available.
Contemporary bar stools are defined by their minimalist, clean lines. They are normally not as bulky as a traditional design. They may be well padded or manufactured of hard plastic. Contemporary models seldom offer arms.
Modern bar stools are often dramatic or whimsical. They typically have distinctive styles and materials. They usually do not work well in a formal setting but can be good choices for use in game rooms.
Retro styles normally include a great deal of chrome and bright vinyl seats. The materials and the styles are reminiscent of the cafes and diners popular during the fifties. Few of them have arms, but the designs often include backs.
Decide where the stools will be placed before making a purchase. Many are offered in a full range of heights. Some are engineered for table height, while others are set for the height of a bar. A great number of models have adjustable heights, allowing you to set the exact height for your needs. When selecting a stool with arms, make sure there is sufficient clearance for them so they will not be damaged when replacing the stool.
Swivel seats are convenient for getting into and out of your stool. Most of the various styles have some designs that will swivel, including some of the backless variety. Stationary stools must be moved into and out of position, and this can sometimes leave marks or scratches on the floor.
It does not matter whether you want vinyl, fabric, or leather or whether you prefer wood, chrome, or acrylic, you can easily find several suitable options. You can buy the stools completely assembled or purchase kits you assemble at home. Regardless of the combination of options you choose, stools give you an attractive and practical option for additional seating.
How do you play "box hockey"/"knock hockey"? It's a game made of wood that's...?
...played indoors with sticks and a golf ball.
In 1974 we stayed inside a lot during recess (in Fairbanks) and played this game. I was a kid and don't remember it well, but it was two or three feet wide and about four or five feet long and six or so inches or so high and had a wood bar across the middle separating it into a left and right side and it had a couple of mouse holes cut into the bottom of the middle wooden separation bar. Each of the two players knelt on the long sides and used a dowel to try to knock the ball into their left side and out a hole at the end. I don't remember the exact layout of the game or the rules but would like to make one of these for my sons. I've been looking for a lot of years.
Q. Does the game box come with a bottom?
A. Yes, the game has a removable playing surface which is made from a sheet
of high density polyethylene, the same material as used for synthetic ice.
Q. What all is included with the game?
A. What you receive is the complete game box, the bottom playing surface, 2
T-6 aluminum alloy hockey sticks, 2 nets, and 1 puck.
Q. Is there very much assembly?
A. There is very little assembly required and no tools are required. All
pieces snap fit together and the bottom surface is held with Velcro
attachments. It should take about 10 minutes to set up the first time and
it's recommended to have 2 people although one person can do it rather
easily. Instructions and game rules are included.
Q. How do I order a game?
A. You can order on-line via our PURCHASE GAME page on a "secured form"
or you can call direct at (877) 99-HOCKEY.
Should you not reach a live attendant, leave the number of games you would
like to order, your name, VISA/MC #, expiration date, name as it appears on
the card, shipping address, and whether it is being shipped to a business or
residence. You will receive your order within 7 days.
Q. What if I need any extra sticks or parts?
A. The game was designed to be virtually indestructible under normal play.
Should anything break or you just want to order extra sticks you can order
them on the same page as mentioned above or call us.
Q. How is the game as far as a training aid?
A. EXCELLENT! Many training facilities are using it for stick handling
training and overall conditioning. It has been recommended by several
professional trainers and instructors.
Q. We run a camp. Is this something that would work well with what we do?
A. Yes, Most Definitely! Whether you run a Hockey Training Camp or a
typical Kid's Camp, the game will be an excellent addition to your existing
activities. Guaranteed that the kids will love it!
