Astronauts and NASA have been using freeze dry food for decades now. These types of goods have all the water inside of them completely taken out, while still holding their solid form. When you take the water out of anything, you reduce the possibility completely that it can be any bacteria or small organisms can contaminate it.

These small creatures feed off the water and decompose it, releasing chemicals that cause disease, or simply releasing chemicals that make things taste bad. Additionally, natural enzymes that are located in edibles react with the oxygen in water and cause things to spoil or ripen. Basically, small organisms require water to keep living, so if you dehydrate food, enzymes and bacteria won't be able to interact with the water and thus will stop the ripening of edible products.

Not only is drying healthier for you, it also makes things weigh less. Most of the things that you eat consist mostly of water. Fruits and veggies usually consist of more than eighty or ninety percent water.

Since it will make material lighter, this helps groups like the military and NASA to transport goods. NASA also brings these types of goods on to cramped spacecrafts.

The water inside your item will dry out. The high temperatures turn water molecules into gas molecules. After your goods are dried, seal them shut. Do i have to let rolled icing dry after putting on to a cake. If so for how long. Thnx

basically - no - just dont push hard on it if you are going to do anything major in decoration

a bit of advice though - buy block icing instead - you have the effort of rolling it out - but the result is better - i find ready rolled tears way too easy

further to answer underneath DO NOT put it in the fridge - you will have water moisture problems if you do - you want to let it dry do it at a natural room temperature
