Makeup and Cosmetics - Discover Good Advice on Untried Products
Some men say they don't like to see alot of makeup on a woman.
However, this is misleading. While many men don't like a woman to look as though she is wearing makeup, they very much appreciate the effects of subtle yet effective makeup, even though they don't realise why their partner looks particularly good this evening.
The trick is to apply lots of makeup, but to have the makeup be "invisible".
The purpose of makeup is to draw the observer's eye to your eyes and your lips - these are the parts of your face they will be gazing at if they find you attractive. Anything which distracts the attention from your eyes or your lips will reduce your apparent attractiveness.
This is why some women apply bold color to their lips and eyes. This is a mistake, and leads to the "clown effect" - not at all attractive. Subtlety is the key.
Rather than highlighting your lips and eyes, use makeup to reduce or remove the distractions.
The best tool in your makeup arsenal is a good foundation. Your foundation should exactly match your skin tone, so that there is no visible edge when it is applied.
The first step is to use a good creamy concealer to hide any spots, redness, scars. or other blemishes. Tap your fingers gently around the edges of each concealer spot to blend them smoothly, then apply the foundation.
A good translucent powder (try Guerlain Powder) is the next step - dust the powder firmly into the foundation, so that it locks in place.
Make sure you use a good eye foundation and powder on your eyelids, too. Conceal those black bags!
Once you have applied your "undercoat", you will find that your face looks pallid and uninteresting, but very uniform in color. Now it's time to reach for your color palette, but again, with subtlety.
Choose a brownish blush, a French Beige lipstick (consider Chanel Allure Lipstick), and natural toned eye shadow. Brown mascara is better than black if you're going for the "no makeup" look, and a brown eye liner applied lightly along the lash line, and blended well at the edges.
A great product for hiding any imperfections is Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage. Done properly, the look you can achieve with these steps will please the most makeup-intolerant man, and you will be thrilled at how good the "real you" can look.
